Malvern Bungalow
This renovation opens up and enlivens a gracious Californian Bungalow, beautifully connecting its interiors to the outside. The original features of the house were lovely, but the family was frustrated by a “rabbit warren” floorplan and dark interiors. We reoriented the home to the north with new openings, bringing in sunlight, views and a fresh contemporary Hamptons style that works so well in houses of this period.
Now, as you enter the front door, the interior simply draws you in - it’s so inviting. The new kitchen is at the heart of the home but also connects with the garden. This was a stop-start project, but we made a commitment to our client to stay the course by adapting our approach as needed. They now have a house that works not just at the functional level with three bedrooms and new bathrooms for family life, but it is also a great example of a Lifesage Design home that feels special and welcoming.
