Goodstart Waurn Ponds
This project involved the end-to-end delivery of a purpose-built early learning centre at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus, including site identification, planning, design coordination, and construction.
Developed in close collaboration with stakeholders, the centre reflects contemporary childcare philosophies, with a focus on flexible, non-formal play environments. Natural elements such as mud play areas, water features, and outdoor learning spaces are integrated alongside traditional equipment to support experiential learning.
Sustainability initiatives were embedded into the design, including photovoltaic energy generation and rainwater collection systems servicing toilets and laundry facilities.
The centre prioritises accessibility and connection, with a central courtyard, ramped access throughout, and strong integration between indoor and outdoor spaces. A shared dining and gathering area further supports community engagement and daily interaction.
The project also included consultant coordination, contract administration, and compliance with all relevant regulatory, accessibility, and operational requirements, resulting in a functional and forward-thinking educational facility.
