Domain Views
With sweeping views across Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, this Domain Road apartment enjoys an exceptional location.
The original layout felt disjointed, with key living areas disconnected from the outlook. The new owners sought to maximise the garden vistas while updating the interiors and building services to suit contemporary living.
A primary design challenge was to unify the apartment and create a calm, refined atmosphere befitting its setting. Rationalising the ceiling heights to achieve consistency throughout, together with reorienting the kitchen, were key moves that improved spatial flow and visual connection across the home.
The kitchen now forms the heart of the apartment for cooking and entertaining. An extended bench allows multiple cooks to share the space comfortably, while practical work zones are discreetly concealed to maintain a sense of order. The result is a light-filled, acoustically comfortable apartment defined by a sophisticated and cohesive material palette.
