An extension to the lower ground level, the new loading dock supports efficient management of delivery and retrieval of waste and dirty/clean laundry. The project relocated the hospital’s needle exchange program in the dock area, whilst improving safety, privacy and circulation for users and staff.
Externally the building presents an attractive street presence with the addition of a striking screen artwork that was developed in consultation and input by Indigenous community, providing a visible address point and strengthened identity. Future planning will make the dock adjacent to the staff entry. Works include a new hardstand and a steel canopy. Providing protection from the elements, the new canopy collects rainwater for reuse in nearby indigenous garden beds and for bin washing.
