Building B is being reinvented as the Youang Surgery Centre in a staged process to ensure continuity of hospital services and includes service upgrades to meet current standards
In the context of Covid-19, the outpatient waiting room expansion makes the environment safer for staff and patients. We repurposed two inpatient bedrooms and created a calming and flexible design with bench seating which helps to define patient proximity, is easy to clean and accessible with a variety of configurations. Wheelchair users now have space to wait in a social location. As part of the project, we updated the small café at the building entry close to Reception. This friendly informal space has been improved with better spatial flow, clearer signage and wayfinding. Our detailing and joinery use finesse and biophilic principles that expresses respect and care for the people who work in the space.
