Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Centre
Home to the Hawthorn and Toorak East Malvern Hockey Clubs, the project is a major redevelopment with new clubrooms, kiosk, viewing decks, multipurpose rooms and upgrades to gender-neutral amenities to contemporary standards, including disability access.
The redevelopment benefits the two clubs’ 1150 members, and metropolitan Melbourne hockey teams and school students who use the centre. The experience of every club visitor is enhanced through community-focused features, like the new BBQ social area and kitchen catering facility in a light, airy building that takes advantage of views and orientation. Amenities are gender-neutral to cater for men’s and women’s teams at any time, with direct access from outside, significantly improving access and safety for players, officials and spectators. Four change rooms were refurbished, also on a gender-neutral basis.
