Barwon Health Youang Surgery Centre Loading Dock
This project extends the lower ground level to create a new loading dock, improving the efficiency of deliveries and the management of waste and laundry services. The hospital’s needle exchange program was also relocated to this area, with careful attention to safety, privacy, and clear circulation for both users and staff.
Externally, the building gains a stronger street presence through a striking screen artwork, developed in consultation with the Indigenous community, providing a clear address and sense of identity.
Future works will connect the dock to the staff entry and include a new hardstand and steel canopy. The canopy provides protection from the elements while capturing rainwater for reuse in nearby Indigenous garden beds and for bin washing.
